I wish I was one of those people who could listen to music while I was working, but I just can't (if you ever come across random 4 Non Blondes lyrics spliced into my posts, now you know why). I've found solace, however, in
ambient music. The handful of ambient albums I have in my iTunes are far and away my most played files—my favorites are Gas's
Pop, Brian Eno's
Music for Airports, and Enno Velthuys's
A Glimpse of Light—and I play them on repeat when I'm writing, reading, or falling asleep. But I'm always looking for new, soothing stuff.
